Khalilov st. 23, AZ-1148, Baku, Azerbaijan Institute of Physics of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, Baku, Azerbaijan 3 Department of Physics, Karadeniz Technical University, Trabzon, Turkey Abstract In this article, we investigate the contribution of the higher twist Feynman diagrams to the large-pT inclusive pion production cross section in proton-proton collisions and present the general formulae for the higher twist differential cross sections in the case of the running coupling and frozen coupling approaches. The structure of infrared renormalon singularities of the higher twist subprocess cross section and the resummed expression (the Borel sum) for it are found. We compared the resummed higher twist cross sections with the ones obtained in the framework of the frozen coupling approximation and leading twist cross section. We obtain, that ratio R for all values of the transverse momentum pT of the pion identical equivalent to ratio r. It is shown that the resummed result depends on the choice of the meson wave functions used in calculation. Phenomenological effects of the obtained results are discussed.

Η Meson Production in N N Collisions Typeset Using Revt E X 1

η meson production in both proton-proton and proton-neutron collisions is investigated within a relativistic meson exchange model of hadronic interactions. It is found that the available cross section data can be described equally well by either the vector or pseudoscalar meson exchange mechanism for exciting the S 11 (1535) resonance. It is shown that the analyzing power data can potentially b...

φ-meson production in proton-proton collisions

The production of φ-mesons in proton-proton collisions is investigated within a relativistic meson-exchange model of hadronic interactions. The experimental prerequisites for extracting the NNφ coupling strength from this reaction are discussed. In the absence of a sufficient set of data, which would enable an accurate determination of the NNφ coupling strength, we perform a combined analysis, ...

Effective Field Theory Approaches to Pion Production in Proton–proton Collisions

Over the last years, very precise data on pion, η and η meson production in proton-proton collisions in the threshold region have been obtained at IUCF, CELSIUS and COSY (for a review, see the talk by H.O. Meyer ). The basic process is pp → pNM , where N denotes the nucleon and M a pseudoscalar meson, in our case the π, π, η or the η. At the respective threshold, the produced meson is soft, i.e...

O ct 2 00 3 Exclusive φ production in proton - proton collisions in the resonance model

Exclusive φ production in proton-proton collisions in the resonance model. Abstract The exclusive φ meson production in proton-proton reactions is calculated within the resonance model. The considered model was already successfully applied to the description of π, η, ρ, ω, ππ production in proton-proton collisions. The only new parameter entering into the model is the ω − φ mixing angle θ mix w...

Instantons and η Meson Production near threshold in NN collisions

An enhancement for the η production in proton-neutron collisions as compared with that in proton-proton scattering has been recently observed. We present a calculation for the production cross section, in proton-neutron collisions near threshold, within instanton model for the QCD vacuum and show that a specific flavor dependent nonperturbative quark-gluon interaction related to instantons is a...
